Environmental Issue-Pollution

Pollution has been a serious issue in Taiwan for a long time. Several presidents promised that they would make policy about limitation of pollution, but what they could do was limited. The fact is, there are only a few people know how serious pollution is in Taiwan.

There were a directer who spent his own life making documentary of Taiwan, the most famous film he directed was called<Beyond Beauty - TAIWAN FROM ABOVE>. He used empty shot machine and helicopter to reveal the current environment of Taiwan. Unfortunately, the director passed away in the accident of helicopter crash. In the film, we could see the beauty of Taiwan, however, we could also see how the industries harmed our country, and how people not cherishing our land. When I watched the film, I couldn't imagine this is where I live. I couldn't believe that my country became like this in only twenty years.

Rivers contaminated by water sewage, over-exploitation of land, building highways and destroyed the ecological development. This are obvious points, however, there are also many other points that we should be aware. For instance, I am an asthma patient, when the air becomes dirty, asthma attacks me. Pollution is not dangerous for individuals, but it is also very harmful for residents who live near or even on the mountain. The picture above shows how the lands were over developed, when the earthquake hits, there would be a high risk that no one survives from the damage.

It is very important for the government to make policies about environment, however, we could change something in our daily life. We don't have to do a lot, but we can save our earth and not to change our daily routine. For example, we could implement resource recovery or take shower instead of taking bath. This seems like a little change, but we should know it would be a lot if many people do the same thing.

There's a great person who sacrifice himself to save our earth, this is the time when we should start to make our earth a better place!
