Summer Universiade Taipei 2017

This summer Taipei has an important event, it's called ''Summer Universiade 2017 Taipei." This is a sport competition which could be attended by university atheletes in the world. For Taiwanese people, this is not just a sport competition, but it is a great opportunity for us to show the beauty of Taiwan to the whole world.

Before the Universiade began, I didn't have any feelings about it, because I thought that the Taiwanese government couldn't hold such a big event. The last day before the grand opening, the news said that tickets for some popular events had been sold out. I was so moved when I heard the news. I didn't know how Taiwanese people reacted to this. In that moment, I decided to support this international events which was held by my hometown.

The next day, it was the first baseball game that team Taiwan attended, they were going to play against France, which is my second home. Baseball is the most popular sport in Taiwan, we are very proud of our teams and players. I was hoping that Taiwan could win but I didn't want France to lose, I felt so torn. The game was so exciting that everyone thought team Taiwan would win, but in the bottom of the nineth, team France reversed the situation, stealing the win from Taiwan. The result was 4-3, Team France won. After the game, I went to the atheletes lounge, where many of them were happy to see me because I was the only Taiwanese person who supported them and I became friends with some atheletes.

After that game, I was there for all the matches that France played, althought they didn't get a good result. After those games, I thought of the matches that I had been to. The French atheletes were a little disappointed about their final result in the whole Universiade Games, but I think they are the real atheletes. They don't blame other people but they review on their personal performance and talk about how they can make a better change next time. I was so much moved by their attitude and that gave me the motivation to keep supporting them.

The very last day before French baseball team left, I sent a message to one of the baseball players and ask him when is he going to leave Taiwan, he told me it would be the next day. When I heard that news, I was so upset and I was hoping if they could stay longer. I told him that I would go to the airport and say goodbye to them. My bestfriend and I went to the airport together. I brought the French flag and let some players sign it. After that, I took many photos with the atheletes.

For me, the Universiade Games made my summer vacation even more meaningful, these games are not just an international exchange but also it was a great opportunity to know other foreigners. The most important thing is to let the world recognize Taiwan and to tell the globe how friendly and that we are able to hold such a big event. This event even made me love my own country even more, I can't wait for the next big thing!
